Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year. To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. The dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the Gregorian calendar, so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February. To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year's Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country.

 

 

Preparations for the New Year begin the last few days of the last moon, when houses are thoroughly cleaned, debts repaid, hair cut and new clothes purchased. Houses are festooned with paper scrolls bearing auspicious antithetical couplet (as show on both side of the page) and in many homes, people burn incense at home and in the temples to pay respects to ancestors and ask the gods for good health in the coming months.

同学们，快乐的暑假终于来到了，希望大家在享受假期的同时不要忘了英语学习噢！

1。复习1A，2A的单词：单词是英语学习的根本，到了初二大家会发现单词量和难度都会加大，所以我们一定要好好利用这个假期复习单词，具体要求是：每天抄写并背会20个单词，上下两册书，按照课本上的顺序，包括带星号和三角的单词。

2。提高阅读能力：从这次考试大家应该发觉，英语学习对阅读的要求越来越高，所以我们要加强训练，具体要求：完成我们的《拓展阅读》，大家不要一口气写完就了事，一定要认真地，有层次的练习，有能力的同学还可以买些其它的资料来阅读。

3。提高写作能力：我们一直以来的好习惯可不能丢啊！每周一篇周记别偷懒啊！（50-60 个单词）

4。充实我们的blog：请大家在完成了所有的《英语周报》的同时摘录一些好的文章放到我们的blog上，当然还可以上网找其它的好段子！

备注：单词和周记写在同一个本上，要求注明日期。
